ABSTRACT

This study was carried out on the effect of movie scenes on the dress sense of university students in Nigeria using LASU as a case study. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of undergraduate students of Lagos State University. In determining the sample size, the researcher purposefully selected 220 respondents and 150 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables. While the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that movie scenes has a significant influence on Nigerian students. The study also revealed that movie scenes has a negative effect on the sense of dressing of Nigerian student. Therefore, it is recommended that universities and other tertiary institutions should take the issue of dress code serious, punishing students who are found wanting. And Parents have a huge role to play at least by making efforts to regulate or balance the amount of foreign content their children are exposed to since the national Broadcasting Commission (NBC) cannot regulate who hooks up to digital medias television.
